These White Chocolate Ghosts are the recipe you need to really get into the spirit of things.
What Are White Chocolate Ghosts
White chocolate ghosts are the simplest spooky treat. Good quality white chocolate is melted and formed into a ghost shape. You can snack on it or use the ghosts to decorate a cake, brownies or cupcakes. Just imagine how cute these would look all around our Flourless chocolate cake or served up with our other Halloween treats.
The ghosts are simply decorated with candy eyes and an edible food coloring marker. You can also pipe the face with black frosting or make the eyes from chocolate sprinkles.
White Chocolate Chips vs White Chocolate Melting Wafers
It’s important to use vanilla chocolate “melting wafers.” The wafers melt very well and set up perfectly into the ghost shapes without falling apart. White chocolate chips are very finicky and burn very quickly. We ended up with a mess of white chocolate before figuring out that the wafers are best.
Melting White Chocolate
You can melt the chocolate in a double boiler over the stove but for ease we do it in a microwave. You are going to melt it, stir and melt it again. It’s important to stir the wafers each time you remove them from the microwave. The residual heat will fully melt them and keep them the perfect consistency. If the chocolate is too runny just wait 2 minutes for it to thicken.

Directions
- Cover a sheet pan with a silpat mat
- Add the white chocolate chips to a glass bowl. Heat for 40 seconds. Remove and move around with a spoon.
- Heat them again in the microwave for another 15 seconds. Stir the white chocolate wafers again. If you still need to melt them more, pop them in the microwave for another 10 seconds. *see note about melting chocolate. Be sure the mixture is smooth and without clumps.
- Pour a teaspoon of the white chocolate onto the silpat. Repeat 10-12 times.
- Once you have all of the white chocolate down, use the back of the spoon or an offset spatula to drag the chocolate to the side and mimic the shape of the ghosts. Add eyes to the chocolate before it sets.
- Let it set up at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Once they are completely set, draw a mouth onto the face of the ghost.
