Happy April Newsletter!

Hard to believe that April is half way through! It’s so hard to believe how quickly this month has flown by. As the year is winding down, things begin to pick up. It’s more important than ever to try to keep things simple in the kitchen. The last thing you want is extra work. This newsletter is dedicated to easy quick recipes that you can make that will keep everyone happy.

We focus on our Bistec de Palomilla because besides Nutella, we can’t name a dish that makes more people happy than that. However we also feature a few other recipes that we know will be a hit! Also for all the people in Miami looking to try new spots, we have a few listed below that we have been loving.

Orange Bowl Food & Wine

We were so honored and excited to be one of the judges at this year’s Orange Bowl Food and Wine Festival. It was a collection of all the best and most delicious restaurants Miami Dade and Broward have to offer. It was such a fun night filled with delicious food and drinks and a chance to support the Orange Bowl, which does so much for our community. They are creating programs for children, giving scholarships, funding Best Buddies and Make a Wish Programs and so much more. To learn more about the Orange Bowl and everything they are doing for our community check them out HERE

Our Huddle Episode with Orange Bowl

To get ready for the big Food and Wine event The Orange Bowl had us on their You Tube series, “The Huddle”. We had Marlon Hill, one of the Orange Bowl Committee members and all around incredible Miami citizen, join us at our counter.

We talked all things Food and Wine and our Abuelas, plus made some delicious “orange” inspired recipes: Thick Cut Pork Chops with an Orange Chimichurri and of course Orange Mimosas! . We have a feeling our Mimosa Pitcher is going to be quite handy in the next few months.

Recipe of the Month

Since we started our blog, our Bistec de Palomilla recipe is always at the top of our most searched recipes. It’s no mystery. Bistec de Palomilla is the perfect example of how the simplest ingredients can come together to have a big impact on the plate.

What Our Kids Love to Eat

A big question we usually get, “what do you make during the week that your kids don’t complain about”. Let’s be very clear: our kids always complain. This is the name of the game. However we do have a few recommendations for easy things you can make during the week that the kids complain about, less. Here are a few of our go-to weekday recipes (besides palomilla) that you can make:

Tools We Can’t Live Without:

In honor of our recipe of the month, Palomilla, we thought we would highlight the Cast Iron Pan! It’s a tool that every home cook can have, because as you use it- it gets better and better. For things like Palomilla and Pollo a la Plancha there is nothing better. The flavors build over time, and they are the perfect nonstick pan to use when pan searing.
