This Super Bowl Menu is a Touch Down! A New Orleans inspired and filled with easy to make ideas that your crowd will love.
This Super Bowl we are cheering for New Orleans! We know the New Orleans Saints aren’t playing in the biggest sporting event of the year. However they are hosting! Super Bowl LIX will be held in the New Orleans Superdome February 9 and for us. Obviously, this is the perfect excuse to put our Cuban spin on some of our favorite creole dishes and set the mood. After all, we are just here for the food.
We can all agree NOLA’s Cajun recipes and soulful sides deserve to be celebrated, which is why our Super Bowl menu is an ode to The Big Easy.
New Orleans inspired Super Bowl Menu:

The thing we love most about the Southern Creole kitchen is how comforting and soulful the food can be. It’s hard to deny the overlap between the Creole and Cuban table, so naturally we thought it would be so fun to make a Super Bowl Menu! In fact we made a menu and then just keep going with ideas.
Below you are going to find a perfect Cuban/Creole Menu to host your people for Super Bowl. Of course we made sure to keep things simple and easy, so that you don’t find yourself with too much work. No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen, and miss all the commercials!
This menu (in our opinion), is the best of the Southern and Cuban Creole Kitchen. We love dishes like gumbo and red beans that can be made in advance and left bubbling in a pot for everyone to help themselves during the game. Our fried chicken is marinated in mojo but still has that crispy crunch that the Louisiana staple is known for. Whether you say pee-KAHN or pick-AHN, our pecan bars are the perfect dessert to energize you past the half-time show. Cut them up into small bite-sized pieces so you can save room for one of our bread puddings drizzled with our whisky sauce. You will be fooled into thinking you are dining in the Garden District’s famous Commander’s Palace.
Appetizers:
Appetizers are crucial at a Super Bowl Party. Truly the entire event can be centered on appetizers and your crowd will be happy. The name of the game on a day like this is finger food. You can never go wrong with a classic Charcuterie Board, where people can graze as needed. However we have a few delicious starters that are easy to share

Main:
As with appetizers you want to make things that are easy to share and don’t require much else. We picked classic New Orleans Gumbo, Black Bean Chili, and Fried Chicken as your go-to entree choices. Additionally the Chili and Gumbo can be served in red solo cups to keep it simple and “on super bowl theme” so easy to clean and easy to serve. The Fried Chicken is a crowd favorite that makes it easy for people to grab a piece or two as wanted.
Chicken, Sausage and Shrimp Gumbo: this is the perfect example of the amazing overlap between Creole and Cuban cooking. This sausage and shrimp gumbo gets its flavor from the deep roux-based sauce and creole spices. We love to have it at a New Orleans Super Bowl party, because it brings the city to you. Serve it in cups over white rice, and everyone can get a little bite.

Fried Chicken: This fried chicken or pollo frito as we call it is a classic dish with a Cuban spin that really takes it to another level. We love marinading the chicken with mojo. It honestly is cheating. This marinade breaks the chicken down, leaving you with the juiciest fried chicken you’ve ever had.
Black Bean Chili: a classic football game day food for a reason. It’s packed with protein and has just the right amount of spice. Your’e going to love this chili recipe! We guarantee it! Serve it with some shredded cheese, sour cream, and green onions on the side and let everyone serve it their way.
Sides:
Although sides are not essential at a Super Bowl party, it never hurts to have them on hand. Try to keep it simple and have things that are easy to serve, or compliment your main. We know that you can always find Red Beans, Mac n Cheese and Cornbread somewhere on Bourbon Street. So we thought they would make the perfect compliment to pretty much anything!

Dessert:
The Dessert is non-negotiable. So when we were thinking of what desserts we would want at a New Orleans Super Bowl, we took it seriously. We thought that Pecan Pie Bars, Donut Bread Pudding and Caramelized Banana Bread Pudding were perfect. Albeit each of these desserts are delicious but they also each hit their own special New Orleans note and represent a little piece of the Big Easy!
